So, is God using you in big ways?

Why were the Levites set apart? Why did they become God’s trusted servants? It was because of their zeal (extreme passion) for the Lord.

Read this passage from the book of Exodus that is rarely taught in children’s Sunday-school classes.
So he (Moses) stood at the entrance to the camp and said, "Whoever is for the LORD, come to me." And all the Levites rallied to him. Then he said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.' "The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died. Then Moses said, "You have been set apart to the LORD today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and he has blessed you this day." – Exodus 32:26-29
The Levites were set apart and given the awesome responsibilities and privilege as caretakers of God’s holy tabernacle. Why did God choose the Levites? It was because of their willingness to choose God and practice extreme obedience.

God uses people who are sold-out for Him. God uses people who obey Him. God uses people who forsake all others (friends and family included) – save Him.

So, is God using you in big ways? Have you been entrusted with incredible kingdom responsibilities and privileges?

I love this Scripture! The first time I remember hearing about the Levites being chosen because of their passion for the Lord was during Encounter night, June 6. Dr. Kinnamen spoke about the Tribe of Levi through Deuteromony 10 - much like what you've written about in Exodus.

The Lord had set the Levites apart to carry the new wooden chest, inside new tablets - the ark of the covenant of the Lord... as carrying God in your ark, the individual priesthood of the Believer. We are to pronounce blessings on people, and stand before the Lord to minister. This is our service - how God uses us.

The parallel, 1 Peter 2:4-11 - which tells us that we are a living dwelling place - a living stone, to be a holy prietshood, offering spiritual sacrifies acceptable to God thru Jesus in us. Sacrifices: abstain from sinful desires, live good lives before pagans, save yourself from this world - we are aliens and strangers in this world.

When I heard the word of God spoken on this truth, it went deep within me, as if to make a shift and suddenly - I heard differently - I understood truth my heart had longed for so desperately for so long. Isn't that amazing? Oh how I want to be aware of him every moment - my desire is to love the Lord as much as I know how!

The Lord says in Deuteronomy 10:8 to stand before him to minister and to pronounce blessings in his name - wow! Why do we make it so hard?! Verse 12, The Lord your God asks of you to... fear the Lord your God... walk in all his ways... love him... serve the Lord your God with all your heart...obey his commands...help people live well.

Help us God in all these ways for we are nothing without you, we can do nothing except it be given by your hand!

V16 - "do not be stiff-necked any longer". I began to see myself in ways that need his touch. And yet, I know he is all sufficient as I allow him to do it.

A most precious portion of this scripture for me is 9b "..the Lord is their inheritance, as the Lord your God told them." Oh what a gift, for we were once aliens in Egypt - now He is our praise, our God performing great and awesome wonders seen with our own eyes!

So, is God using his people in big ways? Yes! His ways I believe are different than what we can understand - the big ways are often those unseen by many or go unnoticed for v18 "He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing." Amen!
